Counselling

I offer a free introductory session for us to meet to discuss your issues, concerns, aims and decide whether or not we would be able to work well together.

A typical counselling session lasts for 50 minutes (the counselling hour).

I charge £50 per session for individuals.

I charge £70 per session for couples.

Lower fees are negotiable on request.

Person-centred counselling works from the belief system that the individual has, at his or her core, the need or drive to develop, change and improve as best they can. I firmly believe that given the right circumstances a person can fulfil any number of their possibilities in life. Counselling offers a safe environment for the person to grow but also to come to terms with and find acceptance of parts of their self. This means that as a therapist I will offer you acceptance, empathy, warmth and understanding and a place where you will not be judged. This will be true no matter what issues you choose to bring.

All information you bring is kept strictly confidential and I adhere to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) ethical codes and standards of practice.

Where appropriate, or where requested, I can also employ some more directive techniques and ways of working from Transactional Analysis (TA), Gestalt Therapy and some Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches; which clients may find helpful. I also offer psychoeducation where appropriate.
